Trout Fishing in America's followup to Grammy nomination.
September 18 2003--Trout Fishing in America puts the pieces together with a fresh new collection of songs for family listening. It's a Puzzle, the follow-up to their Grammy-nominated CD inFINity, is Trout Fishing in America's most ambitious and wide-ranging project to date. The latest catch from this award-winning duo is set for release September 2nd.
"This CD is a rainbow of the musical styles that have influenced us through our years," explains Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet, who have performed together as Trout Fishing in America for nearly three decades. As audiences around the country discover all the time, Trout Fishing in America is one of the most engaging and musically accomplished groups performing today.
It's a Puzzle easily crosses boundaries from folk styles (It's A Puzzle,The Goops) to blues (It's Gone, Relax) to the ambiguity of a modern kid's inscrutable dialect (It's Like). All of this is spiced up with a dash of pop music from the 60's (Wrong Right, La La Land) to the driving beat of Gen X (Alien in My Nose). Trout Fishing in America refuses to be categorized or to grow up. These musical pieces fit together effortlessly, creating a colorful and playful picture of the world of Trout.
The duo aims to create accessible music and lyrics for all ages. "We hope this is the CD adults and kids can enjoy together or separately depending on their needs," quips the duo. And they should know what works with kids. Two of the songs, La La Land and Alien in My Nose, were inspired by songwriting workshops that Keith and Ezra conducted with students.
Trout Fishing in America is a nationally acclaimed performing and recording group based in Northwest Arkansas. While they have a strong following for their sophisticated repertoire of music for grownups, they have also garnered national awards for their five previous recordings for families. The duo has been featured on the Today Show and has performed at the White House. They have won numerous awards, including several "Best of the Year" accolades and Gold awards from Parents' Choice and the National Parenting Publications. Billboard magazine notes their "rare musicianship, humor and inspiration." And, as Chicago Parent says, "If you haven't heard them yet, it's time to do some trolling."
